Artificial Intelligence Day 2018 "JIA'18" AI, applications and Moroccan context

2018-11-27 2018-11-27

Objectives of the JIA'18

Artificial Intelligence seems to be acclaimed as the technological revolution of the day; the one to upset the world economy. It is announced that AI will play a vital role in pertinent sectors such as transportation, agriculture and health.

Nevertheless, the percentage of $16 000 billion generated by artificial intelligence to the world economy in 2030 (Source: Accenture Institute) will be monopolized by North America and China. Only 10% will go to the countries of the South to learn from an IDRC report published on June 14, 2018 (https://www.idrc.ca/en).

What roles can researchers from Southern countries play? How to ensure that advances in AI also fairly benefit developing countries? What reflections are needed to adapt AI to the context and reality of these countries?

The AI days, initiated by a multidisciplinary group of ENSAO teacher-researchers, would (through several planned editions):

  • highlight IA projects,
  • discuss and evaluate the impact of AI and its applications on the development of Southern countries, particularly Morocco,
  • initiate projects and partnerships in the field of AI.

To initiate this debate, the first edition invites as a keynote speaker Professor Yves DEMAZEAU, President of the French Association of Artificial Intelligence "" AFIA "" and gives the floor to companies and researchers involved in the field of AI.
